The Conference will take place 5-7 October 2016 in Bragança, Portugal. It aims to share knowledge on agricultural, semi-natural and natural mountain systems, regarding research methods, tools, results, applications, trends and challenges. Another primary focus will be to link research in mountain areas in several regions of the world, with an emphasis on Europe and South America and Portuguese-speaking countries.
The format of the first ICRSDMR will include: speeches, open discussions, poster sessions, panel-led discussions and field trips.
Key topics to be discussed at ICRSDMR:
how mountains, providers of essential ecosystem services, can be recognized and valorized by the general public; and
how research in mountain areas can contribute to sustainable development.
The Conference is part of Mountains 2016, an international gathering about the sustainable development of mountains in Europe and the world, centred on science, knowledge and innovation, and organized by Centro de Investigação de Montanha, Instituto Politécnico de Bragança, Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária, European Mountain Association – Euromontana, UNESCO Chair in Sustainable Mountain Development (University of the Highlands and Islands) and Associação para o Desenvolvimento da Viticultura Duriense.
