n November, the Agreement for the Management of the Degree Course in “Conservation and Sustainable Development of Mountain Areas” and the Edolo Campus of the University of Milan, called the Mountain University (UNIMONT), was renewed.
The institutions which promote the venture (Province of Brescia, Comunità Montana di Valle Camonica, Consorzio Comuni B.I.M. di Valle Camonica, Municipality of Edolo and Unione dei Comuni delle Alpi Orobie Bresciane) decided to renew their commitment and to continue to support the twenty-year experience at UNIMONT while the University of Milan, as well as guaranteeing its commitment to developing teaching, has decided to consolidate and further strengthen its mountain university campus which plays an increasingly important role in University strategies.
Over the years, there has been a remarkable and growing interest in the degree programme, which is reflected in the fact that an increasing number of students come not only from the province of Brescia, but also from other areas of Italy.
In addition, the significant impact on mountain areas provided by the experts trained on UNIMONT’s degree programme, as well as the important activities of research and transfer of knowledge towards mountain territories, make the University experience in Edolo unique at a national and international level.
