WHICH ARE THE KEY PRIORITIES TO CHOOSE SO THAT MOUNTAINS ARE CONSIDERED STRATEGIC TERRITORIES TO BE INSERTED IN REGIONAL AND NATIONAL PLANNING AGENDAS IN VIEW OF NEW EUROPEAN PLANNING?

Please note that it is possible to participate in the survey with the aim of knowing the opinion of all stakeholders active in mountain areas. The survey was created following the thematic workshop organized as part of the third Annual Forum of the European strategy for the Alpine Region (EUSALP) of the Italian Presidency year coordinated by the Lombardy Region.

UNIMONT – a centre of Excellence of the University of Milan located in Edolo that collaborated in the organization of the workshop, has promoted a survey of all stakeholders aimed at identifying priorities for action based on the potential and opportunities that the mountains can offer, thanks to the specificities and uniqueness they possess, to an increasingly complex European system within which the definition of new sustainable development models is crucial and increasingly urgent. The mountains characterize and render the Alpine Region unique, making it an extraordinary laboratory for developing models of sustainable development. This was the focus of the seminar, held in Milan at Palazzo Lombardia.

The speakers stressed the need and the willingness to bridge the gap between cities and small Alpine villages, reducing human impact and enhancing natural resources.

The objective is to bring out the potential of mountain areas so that they are included, to enhance their peculiarities and uniqueness, in regional and national strategic agendas in view of the next planning period of the European Union and the elaboration of specific intervention and integrated policies.

The survey addresses stakeholders in the following areas: Research and Innovation, Public Administration and Governance, Business and Enterprise, Civil Society
