The UNIMONT Open Day was held on Saturday 22nd May: a guidance meeting in which 95 students from all over Italy participated, showing great interest and a strong motivation to study THE mountains IN the mountains.
The training provision of the UNIMONT centre and, in particular, the three-year Undergraduate course in Improvement and Protection of Mountain Environments were presented in streaming through the use of the virtual classroom – technology that has, for years, allowed UNIMONT to overcome physical distances and promote effective dissemination of knowledge. Thanks to the innovative virtual tour, this year it was also possible to visit the campus and its facilities.
The live broadcast began at 10.00 with the presentation of Prof. Anna Giorgi – Coordinator of the Undergraduate course in Improvement and Protection of Mountain Environments and Director of the Research Centre for the Sustainable Development of Mountain areas – GESDIMONT, and then continued with the contributions of Prof. Silvana Mattiello, Prof. Alberto Tamburini and some researchers and collaborators of UNIMONT. Furthermore, some UNIMONT students and graduates shared their university and work experience, highlighting the dynamism, the uniqueness and the innovative and strategic approach of the centre.
The UNIMONT Center of Excellence – University of the Mountain, University of Milan campus located in a small mountain town in the heart of the central Alps, is an innovative centre dedicated exclusively to the development of mountain areas through specific training, research and third mission for the needs of such territories, carried out and coordinated entirely from the mountains. UNIMONT is a real platform that attracts mountain enthusiasts and researchers from all over Italy: in addition to specific teaching, research is carried out working in a local dimension, but in close contact with regional, national and European contexts.
