To support an important initiative “dedicated to those who, in the mountain environment, manage to be a positive example”, the UNIMONT centre of the University of Milan is sponsoring the XIII edition of the Marcello Meroni Award to be held on Friday 26th November 2021 at 8.00 p.m. in the Aula Magna of the University of Milan.
The Marcello Meroni Award was established in 2008 by CAI-SEM, on the initiative of the “Silvio Saglio” School of Mountaineering and Ski Mountaineering with the consent of Marcello’s family and the patronage of the Lombardy Regional School of Mountaineering, to reward those who work as volunteers for the mountains, in one of the following areas: mountaineering, alpine solidarity, protection and enhancement of the environment and mountain resources, knowledge and promotion of alpine and mountaineering culture, science, teaching, history and traditions of mountain people.
This year the initiative has a special formula, since particular attention will be given to the stories of people who, during the pandemic and the consequent lockdown, continued to “live and bring to life” to the mountains. Culture, environment, sustainability and mountaineering are the categories within which the winners of this XIII Edition are to be found.
The prize giving for the winners of the Marcello Meroni 2021 Award will be held on Friday 26th November 2021 at 8.00 p.m. in the Aula Magna of the University of Milan in via Festa del Perdono 7. Participation is free, subject to registration and green pass.
