On Thursday 10th November 2022, UNIMONT, Center of excellence of the University of Milan, spoke at “Ready to stay? Youth as a driver for territorial development in Alpine depopulated areas”. The event, jointly organized by Eusalp – Action Group 2, the Youth Council and the Lombardy Region, represented an opportunity for reflection on the issue of the depopulation of mountain areas.
On Thursday 10 November 2022 , UNIMONT, Center of excellence of the University of Milan, will speak at “Ready to stay? Youth as a driver for territorial development in Alpine depopulated areas”. The event, jointly organized by Eusalp – Action Group 2, by the Youth Council and by the Lombardy Region, will take place from 9.30 to 17.00 and can be followed online or directly in the Sala “Valeria Solesin” of Palazzo Lombardia.
The event aims to focus attention on the depopulation of mountain areas, a worrying trend not only from a social and cultural point of view, but also due to the serious consequences it can have in terms of competitiveness for our economic and territorial systems. The speakers will offer a general overview of the various policies implemented by local governments, at national and regional level, to address the depopulation of mountain areas. In this context, the UNIMONT Centre team of the University of Milan will bring their experience in the valorisation of young people as promoters of the development of mountain areas. In fact, the event will be an opportunity to highlight the leadership and responsibility of young people as an engine for competitiveness and as a key factor in fighting depopulation in the Alpine area.
