The Regional Council of Lombardy has approved a resolution with the aim of supporting and promoting knowledge of the Bachelor’s degree course in “Development and Protection of the Mountain Environment” and of the international master’s degree in “Valorization and Sustainable Development of Mountain Areas”, as well as the UNIMONT center of the University of Milan.
26 years after the foundation of the UNIMONT hub of the University of Milan, the Lombardy Region becomes part of the partnership, giving this agreement a supra-local dimension.
The pact provides for a five-year agreement between the Lombardy Region, the Province of Brescia, Comunità Montana di Valle Camonica, Consorzio Comuni B.I.M. of Valle Camonica, the Municipality of Edolo, Unione dei Comuni delle Alpi Orobie Bresciane and the University of Milan and has the objective of supporting and promoting knowledge of the Bachelor’s degree course in “Development and Protection of the Mountain Environment” and of the international Master’s Degree in “Valorization and Sustainable Development of Mountain Areas” and of the UNIMONT hub.
Anna Giorgi, head of the UNIMONT Centre at the University of Milan, highlights the fact that:
“Lombardy Region’s endorsement of the agreement between institutions and the University of Milan, ongoing for 26 years since the start of the UNIMONT experience, represents a significant step.
By joining the initiative, the Lombardy Region reinforces the value of the UNIMONT approach which concentrates not only on the mountains of Lombardy but also on mountain areas at a national and international level.
Active participation in the main international working groups and the establishment of the international Master’s Degree Course in “Valorization and Sustainable Development of Mountain Areas” are further demonstrations of this commitment.”
