Interdisciplinary Doctoral Fellowship within the Doctoral School in Environmental Sciences – Sustainable Development and Management of Mountain Areas at the UNIMONT campus of the University of Milan.

“Study and analysis of innovative strategies and solutions (Nature Based Solutions) for climate change adaptation in European mountain regions.”

Mountain areas, their communities, and natural and semi-natural ecosystems are much more sensitive to harmful conditions caused by climate change than lowland areas. The doctoral project will take place in synergy with the Horizon Europe-funded MountResilience project involving 47 partners from 13 European countries. The MountResilience project will develop climate change adaptation and resilience of mountain regions and communities. Through the use of a Climate Risk Assessment model and the involvement of local people in participatory processes, the PhD track will lead to identify and map Nature Based Solutions for the transition to climate change adaptation in mountains and suggest policies and strategies at local, national and European levels.
