The “Ettore Majorana Liceo Statale Scientifico e Classico” in Desio will host the first hackathon on the challenges linked to the adaptation of the territory to the effects of climate change from 23rd to 25th September.
The event, promoted by the Ministry of Education, University and Research, is part of a series of Italian school Hackathons entirely dedicated to the development of mountain territories, and is part of the Italian Mountain Lab project – FISR project, supplementary special fund for research of the Ministry of Education, University and Research and led by UNIMONT – Edolo based Centre of Excellence of the University of Milan, which will end with an international “MOUNTAIN-HACK #EUSALP_2019” marathon that will take place as part of the Annual EUSALP Forum in November.
The Climate Action: Resilience#Hack initiative will be a real project marathon during which students from high schools of the provinces of Varese, Como, Lecco, Milan and Monza and Brianza, with the help of mentors, experts and researchers, will work together with the aim of proposing solutions to the need for adaptation of territories in order to reduce the vulnerability of natural and socio-economic systems and increase their ability to respond and their resilience when faced with the inevitable impacts of a changing climate.
The initiative will take place from 23rd to 25th September 2019 in Desio (MB), at the same time as the Climate Action Summit hosted by the UN.
