On the 16th of June at 2.30 p.m., the meeting “EUSALP Policy Workshop: Promoting a sustainable future in the Alpine Region”, with a focus on tourism, will be held at the Unimont Centre of the University of Milan. The event is organised in the framework of the Interreg Alpine Space project “ALPGOV2 – Enhancing the governance mechanism of the European strategy for the alpine region” in cooperation with the Lombardy Region.
EUSALP is the fourth European Macro Regional Strategy and involves 7 countries, 48 regions and 80 million people. Created to respond to the important challenges of the Alpine Region, EUSALP represents a strategic agenda to improve cooperation in the Alpine States and to stimulate an innovative and sustainable development model for the Alpine territory.
Thanks to experiences from different areas of the Alpine region, perspectives for a sustainable future in the Alps will be presented, with a special focus on sustainable tourism. The proceedings will be opened by the Rector of the University of Milan, Elio Franzini and the President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana. The Lombardy Region’s Ministry for the Environment and Climate, Raffaele Cattaneo and the Councillor for Education, Universities and Culture of the Autonomous Province of Trento, Mirko Bisesti will also take part in the event, representing the rotating Presidency of the European Strategy for the Alpine Region – EUSALP. Representatives of European and national institutions will also take part in the debate, including the Hon. Alessandro Panza – Member of the Regional Development Commission of the European Parliament and Roberto Pella – Deputy Vice-President ANCI Nazionale, as well as young administrators from mountain municipalities.
The event will be divided into three main moments: an initial moment with a focus on the future prospects for sustainable tourism, a second moment dedicated to the role that policies play in the development of mountain territories, and a final session in which young local administrators will be given a voice.
The event will be held in a hybrid manner, in presence and online, participation will be possible after registering at the following link: CLICK HERE.
