The UNIMONT Centre of the University of Milan will host a delegation of 50 farmers from Basilicata who grow officinal herbs, cereals and traditional vegetables on a training visit. In addition to the farmers there will be representatives of ALSIA Basilicata (Lucana Agency for Development and Innovation in Agriculture), of the Vavilov Association of custodian farmers, of the Pollino-Lagonegrese Food Community , of Ente Parco del Pollino, of GAL La Cittadella del Sapere and the President of the Pro Loco Basilicata.
During the meeting the skills and experiences of UNIMONT in the field of characterization and valorization of mountain plant biodiversity will be presented. Furthermore, farmers, researchers and land managers will have the opportunity to compare and discuss their experiences and good practices, in order to create a network of those who are committed to the conservation and enhancement of Italian agrobiodiversity.
The event will be an opportunity to meet to share experiences, particularly useful for mountain farms specialized in the production of officinal plants and agrobiodiversity, invited to participate to create contacts and relationships, opportunities for comparison certainly useful for business growth.
