The agricultural use of natural resources and ecosystem services adversely affects the environment, while climate change is threatening agroecosystems in the Alpine region. Agroscope records and models these influences, and describes the need for action to minimise them. Agricultural environmental indicators, inventories and monitoring activities are developed to this end.
The Seminar has the objective to provide a brief overview on agroecology and to present some Agroscope science and practical projects on climate change mitigation and adaptation of grasslands systems in Switzerland with the overarching goal to develop and support future-proof agroecosystems – for Switzerland and abroad.
Agroscope is the Swiss centre of excellence for agricultural research, Agroscope researches along the entire value chain of the agriculture and the food sector. Its goals are a competitive and multifunctional agricultural sector, high-quality food for a healthy diet, and an intact environment.
