The National Ecopistas Program started in 2001 with the aim of recovering and reusing abandoned railway lines for active tourism and recreation. Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) – Patrimonio, together with the public bodies involved, guarantees the promotion, monitoring and technical analysis of the transformation process of both the infrastructures and the associated buildings, valorizing the recovery/redevelopment of the properties for new uses.
