The Ge.S.Di.Mont. Research Centre, representing the University of Milan, took part in the Euromontana General Assembly, renewing its commitment for the sustainable development of mountain areas. On this occasion, Prof. Anna Giorgi was re-elected as a member of Euromontana’s Board of Directors for Italy.
UNIMONT continues to consolidate its position within Euromontana – a multi-sectoral association that promotes cooperation and development of mountain territories throughout Europe. Euromontana brings together 70 mountain organisations from 20 European countries, including regional development agencies, local authorities, research institutes, agricultural and forestry organisations. Euromontana’s mission is to promote integrated and sustainable development and improve the quality of life in European mountain areas.
With the re-election of Prof. Giorgi to the Board of Directors, which took place on the evening of Tuesday 15th October 2024, UNIMONT is preparing to strengthen its collaboration with European institutions, aiming towards new strategic international initiatives to enhance Italian and European mountain territories.
UNIMONT will make available its experience, gained over years of research and collaboration in the field, to the Euromontana Board, promoting an important shift in thinking: from mountains as marginal areas to strategic platforms for innovative models of sustainable development. Through the active involvement of young talents and the strengthening of applied research, UNIMONT aims to make Italian mountains the protagonists of a sustainable and prosperous future in a European context.
