The Tuscany Region and Anci Toscana have organized the “General Assembly of Mountain Areas” with the aim of promoting interaction between the actors involved in such areas, as well as gathering ideas, challenges and solutions for the enhancement of the mountains themselves. The meeting also aims to highlight intervention and development models on which regional planning can be based, in line with the measures envisaged by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
Considering the training, research and third mission activities of UNIMONT – centre of excellence of the University of Milan, aimed at identifying and disseminating good practices and innovative and effective methods to highlight the strategic nature of mountain areas, the Prof. Anna Giorgi was invited to participate.
Visions, strategies and new planning are the issues on which the contribution of Professor Giorgi will focus, promoting discussion on the issues of territorial development with particular reference to mountain areas and related strategies thanks to the activities and initiatives of the UNIMONT pole. Mountains are areas that need specific development models and innovative approaches, both in terms of policies and operational tools, in which sustainability is a fundamental requirement to overcome the challenges related to economic competitiveness and social well-being.
