Anna Giorgi, Head of the UNIMONT Centre of the University of Milan, in the dual role of moderator and speaker, took part at the Agritech Workshop held during the day dedicated to the topic “Enhancement & Efficiency of the territory” of the Valle Camonica Digital Week, organized by Assocamuna and Limes Farm on 4th May.
She addressed the theme of innovation and digitization as a means for the enhancement of mountain territories and the centrality of mountain areas as regards competitiveness was strongly underlined, not only at a national level, but also at a European and global level.
“Excellence exists also on the ‘margins’ and UNIMONT, with its training offer, research contributions and the third mission, is an example of this,” said Professor Giorgi. “The methodical and systematic use of innovative, technological and digital tools is not only an effective means capable of revolutionizing the agri-food sector and enhancing mountain areas, but is also an effective strategy for bringing about a necessary change.”
The Workshop was also the stage for the presentation of one of the projects in which UNIMONT is a partner: ‘Agritech’ – the National Center for the development of New Technologies in Agriculture, which, involving 28 Universities, 5 research centers and 18 companies, aims to combine the best scientific skills in order to promote adaptation to climate change, the reduction of the environmental impact in agrifood, the development of marginal areas, safety, and the traceability and typicality of supply chains.
